We don’t like cancelling lessons, but of course it is often unavoidable and sometimes we cannot give much notice. But generally we will do the following.
For all Venues:
WE WILL NOT GO AHEAD WITH LESSONS IF: In the above situations we will not run any outdoor lessons. You can check to see which warnings are in force by going to the Hong Kong observatory website: http://www.hko.gov.hk/ Note: In Typhoon 3 or with other rainstorm warnings lessons can sometimes go ahead. Please check with us in these situations if you are unsure. If there is a thunderstorm warning: If the observatory issues a thunderstorm warning our office will monitor the situation closely. The observatory website has a function which allows you to check the proximity of any thundertorm (http://www.hko.gov.hk/wxinfo/llis/gm_index.htm), so we can monitor any storm closely. We will not always cancel if the thunderstorm warning is in force (it is issued by the observatory only to alert about the possibility of storms within the next few hours) but we will of course cancel as soon as there is a thunderstorm nearby. All weather surfaces: If the venue has an all weather surface, we will usually go ahead with lessons no matter what the weather, as long as none of the warnings listed above are in force. Concrete / grass surfaces: On concrete or grass surfaces where pooling of water and mud can cause problems we will make a call on whether a lesson will go ahead, usually around 30 minutes before it is scheduled to start. Cancellations: If we are going to cancel a lesson we will try to contact you in advance. Usually we will use out SMS system, which will send an SMS to your listed mobile number (which we get from your application forms.
Make-up lessons: When we cancel a lesson, you can go along to any other lesson that we run at an open venue as a make up lesson. Get in touch if you want a list of venues for make up lessons.
